WHAY Command Control...aka "The Studio"
(as of June 2011)
WHAY has
been serving McCreary County and the region for
more than two decades with the best music variety and
community programming around. Originally on the dial
at 105.9FM, the station increased its power output
and moved down the dial to 98.3FM in 2000.
In the
beginning...WHAY was playing a true variety of music
ranging from new and classic country to rock, blues,
world music, bluegrass, classical and more. In the
mid 1990s the station took a more main stream
country approach to programming, but soon returned
to its roots in 2000 switching to a mainly Americana
format. Today, WHAY offers "Free Range Radio" with a
variety of musical genres represented. From the base
Americana format to the classic country shows,
bluegrass programs and even a couple of rock and
blues shows, WHAY tries to offer something for
nearly all true music lovers.
What you
will not hear on WHAY is rap, "pretty boy" country
or teeny boppin' pop. However, if you enjoy true
roots music, this is the place to be. To find out
more about WHAY's programs, simply visit the
"Programming" page or check out any of the other
online pages for information.
