Hometown Idol competitions continue each Thursday
in May at 7PM at the Gathering Place in downtown
Whitley City with the final competition Saturday May 24th
as part of the Downtown Italian Festival. The contest is open to all ages, with the grand prize winner receiving free lodging in Branson, Missouri. There is a $10 entry fee and contestants
should provide any music needed on CD.

The Whitley City Elementary School Academic Team will host an auction Monday May 12th at 7PM at the school's cafeteria.

AARP will offer a final chance to get free tax preparation at the McCreary Co. Senior Citizens Center Wednesday May 14th from 9AM-12Noon.

The McCreary County Historical and Genealogical Society will meet Monday May 19th at 7PM at the public library. They will be listening to tapes of older county residents.

The McCreary Central class of 1998 will have their
ten year reunion July 26th at Barthell Mining Camp.
The cost will be be $15 per person.

VFW Post 5127 will host a Memorial Day Car Show
Sunday May 25th from 9AM-3PM at Sandhill 4-H Camp.
Trophies will be awarded.

Revival in progress at Pleasant Ridge United Baptist Church
at 7PM nightly with Sammy Vaughn & Wayne Inman.

There will be a benefit singing for the upkeep of Sherd Dobbs Cemetery at Cherokee United Baptist Church Saturday May 17th at 6PM with Jimmy Waters, the Clark Brothers, and Ride Out The Storm. Donations for the cemetery can also be made at Bank of McCreary County.
