The 9th annual Relay for Life Elvis Show, featuring Larry "Lucky Dog" Davis, Neon Country, the Sweet Sensations and Dr. Jerry Burgess, will be held Sunday May 26th at 3:00PM at McCreary Central High School Auditorium. Admission is $5.00 with concessions sold and all proceeds supporting the Relay for Life.

The Scott Solid Waste office will be closed Monday May 27th for Memorial Day, but trucks will be running with garbage collection on a regular schedule in McCreary County.

VFW Post 5127 will sponsor a Memorial Day service Monday May 27th at 12noon on the McCreary County Courthouse steps. American Legion Post 115 will host a Memorial Day service at their veterans' memorial wall Monday May 27th at 2:00PM. All local citizens and veterans are encouraged to attend these events.

The Help Center in Whitley City is now open every Tuesday from 10:00AM - 2:30PM distributing clothing and other items to anyone in need in McCreary County. For information call 354-2104 or 354-9563.

The McCreary Mountain Craft Center on Highway 90 will have a craft fair starting at 10:00AM Saturday May 25th and Sunday May 26th. Everyone is welcome to stop by and see the newly reopened craft center and the regionally handcrafted items on display and for sale. E-mail the center at mountaincraftcenter@gmail.com. 

The Animal Care Center of Somerset and the Lake Cumberland District Health Department will have a rabies clinic in McCreary County Saturday June 8th. Rabies vaccinations will be $5.00 each with other vaccines also available at discounted rates. The schedule on Saturday June 8th includes Pine Knot Primary School from 9:00-11:00AM and Whitley City Elementary School from 12:00-2:00PM.

"Dig into Reading" during the summer reading program at the McCreary County Public Library starting June 21st. Registration begins May 28th. For information stop by the library on Main Street in Whitley City or call 376-8738.  

The Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center's mobile digital mammography coach will be at the McCreary Christian Care Center in Whitley City on June 13th and June 26th starting at 9:00AM each day. Most insurances will be accepted, but the cost for those without insurance is $145 with cash and credit cards accepted. There will be a benefit motorcycle ride for the Wayne County Band Saturday May 25th at Monticello Memorial Park with registration at 9:30AM and the ride starting at 10:00AM. The cost is $20 per driver and $5 for each passenger. For information call 606-305-6368. In the event of rain, the event will be held Saturday June 1st.

Jellico Church of God of the Mountain Assembly will have their 2nd annual Memorial Day Celebration event called "Church in the Park" Saturday May 25th from 5:00-9:00PM at Indian Mountain State Park in Jellico, TN. The event will include free refreshments and live gospel music. Bring your own lawn chairs.

David & Sadie Clark will be singing at Dixie Bend United Baptist Church Saturday May 25th at 7:00PM. Everyone is invited to attend.

Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church invites all ages to Vacation Bible School Monday May 27th through Friday May 31st 6:00-8:30PM each evening. The theme is "Colossal Coaster World: Facing Fear & Trusting God." Nursery will be provided along with snacks and everyone is welcome.

Redemption Way Church is hosting a fundraising photo session with dates including May 24th, 30th, 31st and June 1st at the church. $20 will reserve your 15 minute session with 5 images on disc with print release. First Otter Creek United Baptist Church will have no services Sunday May 26th for Memorial Weekend. The church will have homecoming services Sunday June 9th at 10:00AM with guest preacher Bro. Mark Sewell and guest singers Kentucky Mountain Trio. There will be no services the evening of June 9th. The church will have Vacation Bible School June 10th through 14th at 6:30PM each evening.

The Oasis 14th Anniversary Gospel Concert will be held Saturday June 1st at the McCreary County Park/Senior Citizens Center starting at 5:00PM. The event will support the purchase of a trailer to help spread the gospel. Food and drinks will be sold and everyone is welcome. The Lord's Cafe, in the former Blue Heron Restaurant building, serves free lunch for those in need on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00AM-1:30PM. Donations are appreciated.
