The Fishermen Quartet from Spring City, TN will be singing at Second Bethlehem Baptist Church in Winfield, TN Sunday November 30th at 7:00PM. Everyone is welcome.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS & EVENTS:

The Scott Solid Waste office will be closed and trucks not running in McCreary County on Christmas Day.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is taking applications in alphabetical order based on the first letter of the head of household's last name. When applying you must provide your most recent heating bills, electric bill with physical address, social security numbers and proof of all household income. The schedule includes:
O & P- December 1st; Q & R- December 2nd; S- December 3rd and 4th; T- December 5th; U, V & W- December 8th; X, Y &Z- December 9th and open dates December 10th and 11th. Applications are taken at 431 North Highway 27 in Whitley City in the Big M Plaza. For information call 376-2593.   

The McCreary Central High School Alumni Choir will have their annual Christmas Concert at the high school Sunday December 7th at 2:00PM. Everyone is invited to attend. All choral alumni from McCreary Central are invited to take part. Practice will be December 4th at 6:30PM; December 5th women at 6:30PM and men at 7:45PM; and December 6th from 9:00AM-4:00PM with a lunch break on your own.
The WinterFest Pageant will be Saturday December 6th at McCreary Middle School with girl's divisions from newborn to 24 years and boy's divisions from newborn to 6 years. Applications are due in by December 1st and can be obtained at Sweet Kreations, the McCreary County Judge Executive's Office or online at www.mccrearyfest.com. Applications are also available for the WinterFest Parade which will be Saturday December 13th at 6:00PM in downtown Whitley City. Pictures with Santa will be December 13th from 11:00AM-4:00PM at Jackson Heritage Park.
The Giving Tree is located at the McCreary County Public Library now through December 17th. Items can be placed on the tree including hats, scarves, gloves and mittens to be given to local children in need in McCreary County at the holiday season. Items can also be given to library staff or dropped off at the Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) office in the lower level of McCreary Middle School.
A non-profit organization, called "Jacque's Hope" has been formed through the American Legion Post 115 Auxiliary to benefit children in McCreary County with a debilitating condition. This program will help with transportation, food, lodging, or other special needs while battling the condition. To make a donation to the group or find out more, call Trish Meadows at 606-310-3197, Marie Hale at 376-8278 or Darlene Hensley at 376-9666. Donations can also be mailed to Jacque's Hope American Legion Auxiliary, PO Box 987, Stearns, Kentucky 42647.
