Crossroads Community Baptist Church is seeking volunteers to help with their after school program. Any college students or retired teachers interested in helping should e-mail GinaHasty@gmail.com with "After School Program" in the subject line.  
Ross Grove Baptist Church will host homecoming services Sunday September 6th at 10:00AM with the Waters Brothers singing. Everyone is welcome.

Pine Knot United Baptist Church will host homecoming Sunday September 20th at 10:00AM with Jason Vaughn preaching and the "4 the Lord Singers." Everyone is welcome.
Girl Scout Brownie Troop 7102 is accepting donations of food items for baskets to be distributed to 25 familes from Pine Knot Primary School this Thanksgiving. Donations will be accepted through November 20th and the troop will be setup at Save-A-Lot in Whitley City Saturday September 5th 10:00AM-2:00PM accepting donations. There will be a community blood drive Thursday September 3rd 11:00AM-3:00PM at the McCreary Center of Somerset Community College. All donors will receive a "My blood type is Wildcat blue" t-shirt.
Pine Knot Community Watch will meet Thursday September 3rd at 7:00PM at the Pine Knot Fire House. All concerned citizens are welcome.
Alumni, teachers, family and friends who attended McCreary Central High School in the 1980s are invited to the "80s Craze Reunion" Saturday September 5th from 10:00AM-4:00PM at Sandhill RV Camp on Highway 700. Admission is free. Bring lawn chairs, drinks and food to share. There will be live music, karaoke, raffles, games and more. The Scott Solid Waste office will be closed Monday September 7th for Labor Day. The trucks will be running on a regular schedule.  
The McCreary County Farmers Market is open each Saturday from 8:00AM-12:00PM off Wilburn K Ross Highway in Stearns, across from the high school entrance. All items sold are locally grown or produced. The market offers "double dollars" on SNAP/EBT purchases, and also accepts cash, credit card and debit card payments.
The descendants of George J. and Hilda Laxton Kidd will have a reunion Saturday September 5th from 11:00AM-3:00PM at the Winfield Municipal building. Bring a covered dish.

A benefit singing, dinner and auction benefiting hit and run victim Kylie Ball will be held Friday September 4th starting at 5:00PM at the McCreary County Senior Citizens Center building at the county park. Several groups will be singing, dinners will be sold and lots of items will be up for bid in the auction. American Legion Post 115 will host a 9/11 Tribute dinner Friday September 11th starting at 4:00PM at the legion hall in Stearns, co-sponsored by VFW Post 5127. This will be a free, family friendly dinner for all first responders, veterans and their families.  
A 9/11 Tribute ceremony will be held at the McCreary County Courthouse Friday September 11th at 10:00AM. All first responders and the public are encouraged to attend.
Pine Knot Primary School will host the 14th annual Red Maple Festival, including pulled pork dinner, car show, and more, Saturday October 17th from 10:00AM-4;00PM. There will be several vendors, free inflatables for kids, silent auction and more throughout the day. KITES will perform at 10:30AM and 12:00PM, with students performing at 11:30AM. Heritage Trail Days, formerly McCrearyFest, will be held Thursday October 1st through Saturday October 3rd. Food and craft vendor applications, as well as parade entry application, for the downtown Whitley City festival on October 3rd are currently available at the McCreary County Tourism Office weekday afternoons 12:30-4:30PM or at WHAY Radio from 10:00AM-12:00PM and online at www.heritagetraildays.com. The deadline for parade entries this year is Friday September 18th with the food and craft vendor deadline on Friday September 25th. There will also be guided hikes, road and trail races, and other activities that weekend.
Registration is underway now for the first annual Heritage Trail Days 10K Trail Race at Blue Heron to be held Saturday October 3rd at 3:00PM. Register and find out more by clicking on "Trail Adventures" online at www.heritagetraildays.com.  
Get ready for the Heritage Trail Days "Spook-Fest" Friday October 2nd starting at 6:00PM at the McCreary County Park. There will be a zombie walk with prizes for scariest costume, cutest costume, most original or creative costume and best zombie, plus live music from "Austin's Basement" and a movie after dark.
