Crossroads Community Baptist Church sponsors the Lord's Cafe which offers free lunch to those in need Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM. They also offer grocery giveaways every Friday for letters A-M at 1:30PM and N-Z at 2:30PM. Only one grocery giveaway per household. 
Revival is in progress at New Haven United Baptist Church in Co-op nightly at 7:00PM with Bro. Estil Jones and Bro. Steven Jones. Everyone is welcome.
Scott Solid Waste will close its office on Monday September 5th for Labor Day. Trucks will be running with garbage collection on regular schedule in McCreary County.
The Pine Knot Community Watch will meet Thursday September 1st at 7:00PM at the Pine Knot Fire House. All interested and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend.
The McCreary Mountain Craft Center will host a Labor Day Crafters' Day Celebration with craft demonstrations, refreshments, music and more Saturday September 3rd through Monday September 5th 10:00AM-5:00PM each day. Non-members can set up for free with 25% of sales going to the craft center. For information call the craft center at 376-3463 or e-mail mountaincraftcenter@gmail.com. The craft center's monthly meeting will be Monday September 5th at 2:00PM.
The McCreary County Extension Service will host a class on painted fall door hangers Friday September 9th from 1:00-4:00PM for a fee of $30 to cover all materials. A painted Christmas door hanger class will be held Saturday September 10th from 9:00AM-12:00PM at a cost of $35. For information or to register call the extension office at 376-2524. 
The 4th annual "Pooh Ride" honoring fallen firefighter "Pooh" Hill will be held Saturday September 10th with registration starting at 10:00AM and kick stands up at 11:00AM. The event will begin from the Whitley City Fire Department and the cost is $20 for the rider and $10 for a passanger. The destination will be the Firefighter Memorial in Frankfort. Proceeds will support the "Supporting Heroes" program. 
The McCreary County Farmers Market is open each Saturday morning starting at 9:00AM off Wilburn K Ross Highway, across from the school entrance, in Stearns and the first and third Thursday of each month from 5:00-8:00PM in Jackson Heritage Park in downtown Whitley City. The market includes locally grown produce, food products and crafts. Cash, credit and debit cards, and SNAP/EBT are accepted for payments.
